Civilian killed in alleged misfire in Pulwama

Srinagar, Oct 5 (UNI) A civilian was killed allegedly due to a misfire by a security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Officials said a civilian identified as Asif Ahmad of village Poterwal Shopian sustained critical injuries in an accidental fire from a security personnel’s gun at village Hall.
The injured was admitted to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital Srinagar for special treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
There was no official statement on the incident so far.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti linked the killing with the heightened security for the Union Home Minister.
"As if the harsh measures put in place causing grave inconvenience to the people in Kashmir weren’t enough, Asif from Pulwama paid with his life in the name of ensuring security for HM’s visit. My heart goes out to his family," she tweeted.
