Atishi thanks Kejriwal, vows to serve the people of Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) After being named as the leader at the AAP legislature party meeting on Tuesday, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader Atishi expressed her gratitude to Arvind Kejriwal for showing confidence in her and vowed to safeguard the government's public welfare initiatives and serve the people of Delhi.
Addressing the media, Atishi said, “I thank my leader and political guru Arvind Kejriwal for giving me such a significant responsibility and showing confidence in me. It is only possible in the Aam Aadmi Party for a common worker like me to be entrusted with the roles of MLA, Minister, and now Chief Minister.”
“Today, I am happy to receive this important responsibility, but I am also saddened by the fact that my elder brother and guru, Arvind Kejriwal, is resigning,” she added.
Asserting that the people of Delhi are extremely upset with the BJP's conspiracies, Atishi said,”People want to elect Arvind Kejriwal as their Chief Minister again soon.”
“The people of Delhi understand that if an honest person like Kejriwal is no longer the Chief Minister, they will lose benefits such as free electricity, water, treatment and medicines in government hospitals, free bus travel for women, free pilgrimages for the elderly, and the services of Mohalla Clinics,” she emphasised.
“As long as I am entrusted with this important responsibility, I will protect the public welfare initiatives of the government and serve the people of Delhi.”
AAP in their legislature party meeting today decided to name Atishi as their leader and now she will take responsibility as new Chief Minister of Delhi.
Delhi Minister and AAP senior leader Gopal Rai said, “In today’s legislature party meeting, it was unanimously decided that until the next elections, which we want to be held in October-November at the earliest, and the people elect Arvind Kejriwal as Delhi CM with a thumping majority, Atishi will assume the responsibilities of the new CM.”
Atishi is expected to take the oath of office at around 4:30 pm today, following submitting the resignation of incumbent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor.
