As LS poll campaign nears end, Nadda, Rajnath hold roadshows in TN for BJP-led NDA candidates

Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu), Apr 16 (UNI) A day ahead of the electioneering and campaigning for the first phase of Lok Sabha for all the 39 constituencies comes to an end in Tamil Nadu, senior BJP leaders including Party National President J P Nadda and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday held road shows across the State in support of BJP-led NDA candidates.
Mr.Nadda held a road show from Krishna Theatre to Gandhi Statue in Ramanathapuram in support
of ousted AIADMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam (OPS), who is contesting as an independent candidate in Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha constituency, backed by the BJP.
He was greeted by hundreds of BJP men and women who gathered on both sides of the road, chanting “Bharat Matha Ki Jai” and “Meendum Modi, Vendum Modi” (Once again Modi, we want Modi) slogans.
The BJP Chief standing in an open flower-decked vehicle waved and cheered the party workers right through the road show, holding the party's Lotus symbol in his hand.
Addressing the gathering during the roadshow, Mr.Nadda said "we have to make India a developed country. To achieve this, NDA has to cross 400 seats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi needs such a leader (OPS) in Delhi."
He assured that Mr.Modi will take action against the corrupt after June 4, the day of the counting, and all the corrupt people will serve their prison term.
Hitting out at the ruling DMK, Mr,Nadda said the DMK stands for Dynasty, Money Swindling and Kattapanchayat.
At Tenkasi, Mr.Nadda held a roadshow from Azhad Nagar Bridge to the Old Bus Stand covering 3-km stretch in support of Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam founder and BJP candidate for the Tenkasi (Reserved) Lok Sabha constituency B.John Pandian.
Speaking to the gathering of BJP men and women, Mr.Nadda said the country needed Mr.Modi's leadership to ensure a developed India.
India, which became the fifth largest economy in the World, would become the third largest economy in 2027, if the BJP could return to power for a third successive time.
He claimed that the Centre’s share of funds to Tamil Nadu has quadrupled after Mr.Modi came to power in 2014.
Mr.Modi would not spare the ‘corrupt DMK’ after he becomes Prime Minister for the third consecutive time and his leadership would ensure a developed India, he added.
Mr.Nadda, later held third roadshow at Musiri in Tiruchirapalli district in support of Indhiya Jananayaka Katchi (IJK) party founder T.R.Paarivendhar, who is seeking re-election from
Perambalur Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday. He had won on DMK ticket in 2019.
IJK, which has allied with the BJP in this polls, is contesting on BJP’s Lotus symbol.
Mr.Nadda, accompanied by BJP leaders and the IJK candidate held the road show from Thuraiyur Park Roundana to the Parisalthurai Kaikaatti covering two-km stretch and was greeted by party workers, who gathered on both sides of the road, chanting “Bharat Matha Ki Jai” and “Meendum Modi, Vendum Modi” (Once again Modi, we want Modi) slogans.
Meanwhile, another senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a mega roadshow
in Tiruvannamalai canvassing votes for BJP candidate A.Ashwathaman in important streets.
Earlier, addressing an election rally at Krishnagiri seeking support for BJP candidate C.Narasimhan, Mr.Singh said the DMK and its ally Congress have taken a patent on corruption.
He accused that the DMK has delivered only dynastic rule and corruption to Tamil Nadu. The entire DMK is a family enterprise. Because of its dynastic politics, the State’s youths are not getting a chance to progress. BJP is the only viable and vibrant option for the youths of Tamil Nadu.
He said in DMK’s rule, it has been revealed that sand smugglers have caused a whopping loss of
Rs 4600 crore to the State exchequer in two years. The Centre sends thousands of crores of rupees for the development of Tamil Nadu, but the money falls prey to the DMK’s corruption, he alleged.
