Andhra woman tied to tree for not clearing debt; CM orders action

Chittoor, June 17 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a money lender allegedly tied a young woman to a tree for not clearing the debt taken by her husband at Narayanapuram village of Kuppam mandal of the district on Tuesday.
Police said that Thimmarayappa had taken a Rs 80,000 loan from moneylender Muni Kannappa three years ago. However, he did not repay the debt. On Tuesday, money lender Muni Kannappa saw the wife of borrower Thimmarayappa's wife Shirisha (25). He insisted she cleared the loan which her husband had taken, but she refused to do so.
Furious over this, Muni Kannappa attacked her, dragged her on the road and tied her to a tree with a rope and abused her. A local Telugu Desam party activist informed the police about the incident. The police rushed to the place, rescued the women, arrested the moneylender and registered a case under various sections of BNS.
