Ahmedabad crash: Tearful farewell to Capt Sabharwal in Mumbai

Mumbai, June 17 (UNI) The last rites of Sumeet Sabharwal, Captain of Air India flight 171 en route to London's Gatwick airport which crashed in Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff on June 12 killing 241 on board were performed in Mumbai on Tuesday with his grief-stricken father bidding a tearful farewell to his son before the cremation.
The last rites were performed at an electric crematorium in suburban Chakala, Andheri East, in the presence of family members.

Maha local bodies polls: EC to hold key meeting on July 10

Mumbai, July 8 (UNI) After a prolonged delay, elections to the local self-government bodies in Maharashtra are finally set to take place by the end of this year. The State Election Commission has begun extensive groundwork and has scheduled an online meeting with all district collectors on July 10. Letters about the meeting have already been sent to all divisional commissioners. District collectors will join in via video conferencing, government sources said.

RSS criticises Maha govt’s language policy
