99.9 percent of people in Meghalaya want peace: DGP

Shillong, Dec 2 (UNI) Meghalaya Director General of Police, Dr. Lajja Ram Bishnoi, on Friday said that 99.9 percent of the people in the State want peace, but few miscreants want to create violence.
“I have spoken to a number of people in the city that they want peace and people have realised the futility of violence and only miscreants want to create violence,” Bishnoi said.
Referring to the recent violence in the state capital following the gunning down of six persons, which includes five Pnar villagers and one Assam forest guard, by Assam police in Mukroh village, West Jaintia Hills district, he said the state police have “learnt a hard lesson” over the spate of violence.
