1 dead, 8 injured in thunderstorms in Vietnam's northern mountainous areas

Hanoi, Apr 22 (UNI) Torrential rains and thunderstorms hitting Vietnam's northern mountainous areas left one person dead and eight others injured over the weekend, the country's National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control reported on Monday.
Rains and thunderstorms across 11 northern provinces destroyed 6,891 houses, the committee said, adding that 53 schools had their house roofs blown away.
In 2023, natural disasters left 169 people dead and missing in the Southeast Asian country, leading to an economic loss of over 8.2 trillion dong (322.2 million U.S. dollars), according to the committee.
